In diesem Sinne: Herzlich willkomen in unseren Köpfen. Ihre Schuhe dürfen Sie gerne anbehalten.
Frafimi.- is a collective of friends who skate in Frankfurt am Main and represent themselves through creative outputs, such as specially filmed video montages. This photo-book provides an exclusive insight into the activities of this crew and its members, and illuminates some of the interesting events and untamed emotions within the group. It is a contemporary reflection of the subcultural phenomenon called "skate¬boarding" , which transforms the streets of the city into an urban playground. The book shows the microcosm of the skate crew in a lively way: the shared time together, their characters, the co-operation within the group, as well as the establishment of their own crew identity and aesthetic.
This book is a non-scripted, especially close-up to life and a close to home photo documentation of the past three months in the streets of Frankfurt. "Close to home" especially because I, as the author, have been actively skateboarding since the age of 10 and have been part of the "Frafimi" crew from the beginning. Across 226 pages the reader is presented with analog photographs, compositions and picture series presented, giving them access to a world that has, until now, probably likely been unknown to them and otherwise would have always been: our very own skateboarding world. Welcome to our heads. You can keep your shoes on.
