Kühe geben immer Milch. Dachte ich. Kühe müssen schwanger sein, damit sie Milch für das neugeborene Kalb produzieren. Eigentlich logisch, oder? Der Animationsfilm MILK veranschaulicht auf simple Weise, wie konventionelle Milchkühe genutzt werden und männliche Kälber meist wissentlich als Abfallprodukte geboren werden. Was wäre, wenn Menschen so benutzt werden würden? Eine Geschichte von der künstlichen Befruchtung, zum getrennten Weg der Babys, über die Milch- und Käseherstellung, bis zum Tod der gemästeten Jungen und am Ende: Die Schlachtung der ausgelaugten Mutter.

Cows always give milk. Or so I thought. Cows have to be pregnant to produce milk for a newborn calf. Makes sense, doesn‘t it? The animated film MILK illustrates in a simple way how conventional dairy cows are used and male calves are often knowingly born as waste products. What would happen if people were to be used in this way? A story from artificial insemination, to the separate path of the babies, to milk and cheese production, to the death of the fattened youngs and finally: the slaughter of the exhausted mother.
